My work suppporting schools with

Wellbeing education

Education consultancy

I have worked in consultancy with schools nationally, and internationally for almost ten years.

My areas of specialism as a teacher were PE and PSHE, and this has now evolved into wider wellbeing education work. Much has changed in the field of wellbeing education, and my role now involves supporting schools to meet statutory wellbeing expectations, keep up to date with research developments in wellbeing education and shape their wellbeing education offer so it is inspiring to learn and to teach.

I draw insight from research in positive psychology, childhood physical development, physically-active learning, and nutrition education to offer holistic wellbeing INSET, online training and mentoring for staff. More details on this can be found below.

I founded The Children’s Health Project CIC, a not for profit social enterprise, focussed on the positive impact wellbeing education can have on children, in 2016. We have an online platform - the CHP Academy - where schools subscribe annually to access online training, lesson plans & resources and support for wellbeing education.

Workshops in schools

Through The Children’s Health Project CIC, I offer four main twilight/half day INSET training sessions for schools. Please email ilse@childrenshealthproject.com to inquire/book any of these, or if your would like to co-design a bespoke INSET programme for your school/trust.

  • Leading your staff through a discovery of wellbeing subject knowledge, scientific research and classroom ideas to improve overall learning through the CHP’s 4 Pillar approach

  • Staff only have time to implement worthwhile practices for wellbeing. The pedagogical approaches we highlight in this INSET are guided by research and cover all 4 pillars of wellbeing.

  • A tour around the key habitats in a school ecosystem that enable its people to flourish. A creative way of considering wellbeing in the physical and social environments of your school

  • We explore 7 dimensions of wellbeing that heavily influence the culture of your school. Through key pieces of research, facilitated discussion and the sharing of ideas, we consider what will help your school culture to flourish

Long term consultancy in schools

Longer term consultancy offers schools comprehensive support to shape and tailor a wellbeing education programme to their school needs. Please email ilse@childrenshealthproject.com to discuss how these suggested consultancy programmes might look for your school.

  • A year long programme of support to refine and target key areas for celebration and development. This programme is multi-dimensional with a combination of bespoke whole staff sessions and strategic development with subject leaders. We take a targeted approach, linking to your school improvement plans, your values, and subject action plans. The year ends with an evaluation of performance, celebration of success and a written report with future growth suggestions.

  • Select key members of staff for a wellbeing mentoring programme over the course of a year. Regular sessions will include mentoring for their professional life - related to your organisation's values and objectives, and personal wellbeing coaching which offers a new persepctive to mental wellbeing and health-promoting-behaviours, further nourishing professional lives.

  • This long term programme supports both your whole teaching staff and individual teachers. All teachers are guided through a positive approach to wellbeing in twilight information sessions, and are then supported with twilight rest and relaxation sessions. This programme includes personal wellbeing coaching for selected teachers, who feel they would benefit from a targeted wellbeing focus.

  • Schools are ecosystems that have the potential to flourish - for this we need to include all members of our community. Wellbeing coaching and mentoring can be offered to those who also heavily influence pupil wellbeing - your support staff and/or specific families. This programme takes a mixed approach with workshops, online group 'clinics' and 1:1 coaching sessions.
